Junior reflects on year of original club

If you’ve been tuning into the local news these past couple of weeks you probably noticed junior, and fellow warrior, Stephanie Lund being interviewed about her environmental club. Lund created Warrior Planet this year and has taken initiative in educating her peers and doing her part in saving the environment.

“Warrior Planet is a club designed to educate people about the planet and also give them opportunities to get involved,” Lund said. “So we do things like talk about recent environmental wins and successes, we watch documentaries, and we do park cleanups.”

Lund’s goal for the club is easier said than done, but she believes the students of Westside can handle it.

“Our mission is to improve the lives of people by improving the environment,” Lund said.

With what started as Lund and her friends watching documentaries in the biology room, Warrior Planet has become a club with a substantial following.

“I’d say we’ve been very successful. We have a solid group of 15 students that are very dedicated. Together we’ve cleaned up four parks in the Westside area, each about three or four times,” Lund said.

Lund hopes that Warrior Planet is an inspiration and resource for all people concerned about environment.

“I want students to know that the environment isn’t a lost cause, there’s always hope left. You can always make changes and it’s really rewarding,” Lund said.
