April 24, 2017

Westside Wired is bringing you the best of the best for prom season.

As May 6th approaches, many students find themselves wondering, “Where is the best place to get my nails done?” “Where is the cheapest place to buy a Tux?” “How do I ask him/her to prom?”

Westside Wired is here to save the day and answer all of your prom questions!

The Perfect Dress: Rent the Runway   [ https://www.renttherunway.com ]

Finding the perfect dress for prom can be extremely difficult, especially when they can cost you three of your pay checks. Rent the Runway (RTR) is an extremely helpful and cost effective website. RTR allows you rent designer dresses and accessories for up to 6 days for a fraction of the cost! The best part: you won’t have a full price gown sitting in the back of your closet for the rest of your life! From designer bags to the perfect dress, Rent the Runway is the best choice for finding the perfect, cost-effective dress.

Noteworthy Nails: Martini Nails and Spa   [ http://martininailsandspa.com ]

Located on 74th and Pacific next to Lighthouse, Martini Nails and Spa is one of the highest ranked nail spas in Omaha. Offering services from waxing to hot stone massages, Martini Nails is your one stop shop for all things prom. Call Martini Nails today at 402-502-2883 and ask about their prom special.

Terrific Tuxes: Mr. Tuxedo    [ http://mrtuxedo.com ]

Why buy a tux when you will wear it maybe twice in your life? Located in Rockbrook,  Mr Tuxedo was the highest rated tux rental in Omaha last year. With hundreds of styles to chose from and competitive prices, Mr Tuxedo is a perfect fit for your prom needs.

Fantastic Florals:  Blooms   [ http://www.omahablooms.com ]

Omaha has hundreds of flower shops, so how do you know where to go to get the best corsage or boutonnière? Blooms in Rockbrook Village is a locally owned business and offers a wide variety of options to complete your ravishing prom look. From Orchids to babies breath, they can make your dreams a reality.

Well Done Dining:

Finding a restaurant that will please everyone in your prom group can be tough. One person may be allergic to fish while another despises steak. Wired recommends 3 restaurants, each at a different price level.

  • Restaurant #1- Spaghetti Works $ Located downtown, spaghetti works is a great place to get some great Italian food. Don’t worry, they also offer a wide variety of other options including vegetarian and gluten free. Spaghetti works is relatively cheap and can be a great place to eat if you’d rather spend your money on other things.
  • Restaurant #2- Crave $$ Located in Midtown, Crave is a great place to go if you’re looking for something that feels expensive but is still friendly on your wallet. The menu ranges from tacos, to pizza, to gourmet mac and cheese and can help a picky eater find something they like.
  • Restaurant #3- Catering $$$ While catering is not necessarily a restaurant, it can be a simpler solution. Catering makes it possible for you to bring your favorite food to a place of your choice, whether that is at your friends house or regency clubhouse. Instead of driving across town and waiting 35-40 minutes for your food, it is there right when you want it (and there’s no charge for seconds).

Head turning Hairstyles: Garbo’s Salon   [ https://garbossalons.com ]

Garbos is a great place to get your perfect up-do or cut before you step out on the dance floor. Prices are relatively cheap, and the stylists know what their doing. Garbos is locally owned and takes walk-ins, but I would book an appointment now to ensure you’ll get in. Garbo’s has locations in Regency Court, Oakview, Midtown, and Village Point.

Proposals:

We have featured some Westside students and their proposals to spark ideas in those who (really) have no idea what they’re doing.
