The Wombats Captivate the Waiting Room

October 4, 2016

September 29th. Inside the Waiting Room, purple and blue lights swirl around the packed venue, an eager crowd anticipate the arrival of The Wombats. The Wombats, an English pop rock band from Liverpool, were set to play one of their final shows of the Glitterbug tour. Opening for the Liverpool stars, rock band Mona played a short but energetic set.

When the short wait between acts came to an end the fluorescent purple light dimmed  and the crowd gave a loud cheer as the frontman Matthew Murphy started to sing the words to one of their more popular songs “Give me a Try,” a poppy song that got the audience jumping and singing along. As the concert progressed they played songs spanning their discography such as “Jump into the Fog,” and “Patricia the Stripper,” captivating the crowd throughout.

The English band concluded the night with a three song encore which included one of their slow love songs“Isabel,”  a single off their most recent album Glitterbug called “Greek Tragedy,” and finally one of their most popular songs “Let’s Dance to Joy Division.” Overall they performed an amazing show that left the crowd with lost voices and fondest of memories.
