Girls Soccer Supports Local Non-Profit

April 22, 2016

When Westside’s varsity girl’s soccer team was once again invited to play for the Kicks for a Cure fundraiser, head coach Nathan Moseley knew that accepting
the invitation was a “no-brainer”. Westside has been playing in the tournament for the last 11 years, since the inception of the non-profit organization.

“Westside has always been involved with it from the start,” Moseley said. “It’s in honor of Liz Karnes who was a Westside High School board member. All of her daughters played soccer here at Westside.”

Liz Karnes, who battled with cancer for 12 years, was dedicated to cancer research and education. The Kicks for a Cure soccer exhibition was started three years after her death in 2003 to continue raising money for cancer research. The non-profit has raised over two million to date.

To continue supporting this cause, the girl’s varsity team will face Papillion-LaVista tomorrow, Saturday, April 23, at 4:00 pm at Morrison Stadium. The team will be wearing pink and black jerseys in support of the cause.
