Basketball

Boys: Westside had a tough start to the weekend by taking on Omaha North and star Justin Patton. The Creighton commit lead the way for North with 24 points as North cruised to a 72-57 victory. However, the Warriors responded against Omaha Burke on Saturday. The team defeated the Bulldogs 58-48 and AJ Meeks lead all scorers with 25 points.

Girls: The girls team got off to a huge start this weekend. The team put on an offensive clinic en route to 84 points, a season high. Jay Bridgeman lead the team with 18 points, and Lynsey Curran and Quinn Weidemann also scored in double figures. The team continued their winning ways on Saturday, albeit with less domination. The team beat the Burke Bulldogs 56-49. The girls team will host their own district tournament next week.

Wrestling

Three Warriors qualified for the state wrestling meet this weekend at the district meet. Drew Sorrell, Joe Wiles and Darlondo Hill all qualified for state. Sorrell finished fourth at districts, Hill finished second and Wiles also finished second. The state tournament is this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Show Choir

The Amazing Technicolor Show Choir won the Elkhorn South Crystal Cup competition. Next weekend ATSC will be competing in the Swingin’ on the River Show Choir Competition in Hastings, Minnesota.

Polar Plunge

Westside’s Project Unify club took the Polar Plunge this past weekend. The charity raises money for the Special Olympics. 100 percent of all money raised comes back to the club.

Battle of the Bands

Clark and Company won the winter formal battle of the bands for the second straight year. The band will play next at the Ozone Lounge on Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
