Girls Tennis Takes Second at Metros, Prepares for State
Wednesday and Thursday, May 14 and 15, the girls varsity tennis team competed in the Metro Tournament at Koch Tennis Center. The tournament started Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.
Wednesday, Westside’s No. 1 singles, junior Sydney Harlow, won all of her rounds, putting her in the No. 1 singles championship round, which took place Thursday. Harlow lost the round, and thus placed second.
Westside’s No. 1 doubles, senior McKinney Harwood and sophomore Lizzie Harwood, also won all of its rounds on the first day. Harwood and Harwood went on to win their match Thursday, making them the No. 1 doubles Metro Champion.
Westside’s No. 2 singles, senior Emily Glazer, got fifth place. Glazer was playing in place of senior Liz Kutilek, who is injured. Westside’s No. 2 doubles, junior Elizabeth Tyler and sophomore Phoebe Placzek, only won its first round matchup.
The team took second in the tournament, behind Marian.
Westside will move on to the state tournament, where Westside will be one of the favorites. The tournament takes place at Koch Tennis Center Thursday and Friday, May 22 and 23.
