Westside students were busy in extra-curriculas this weekend. Baseball, soccer and debate all pulled out wins. Plus the musical and cheer tryouts made some noise. Check below for exactly what the Warriors did this past weekend:

Baseball

Baseball had two games and two wins this past weekend. Friday, Westside took on the Lincoln North Star Navigators. The team picked up a 4-0 win against the Navigators. The boys played again Saturday at Omaha North, pulling out another win 15-3 against the Vikings. After this weekend the Warriors are 3-1.

“These two wins show that we are off to a good start,” baseball player senior Spencer Polk said. “I feel confident that we will win many more this season.”

Soccer
Both of the varsity soccer teams won at Lincoln East Saturday. The girls won 2-1 against the Spartans and the boys beat them 3-1. These wins leave each team undefeated for the season.

“We will continue to improve throughout the season,” soccer player senior Joe Dahir said. “We are looking forward to Prep tonight, but it’s just another game and not a big deal.”

Sophomore Nata Ward has similar hopes for the girls team.

“There is a lot of promise this year, and even the coach said there is so much potential,” Ward said. “If we can keep working we have a good chance at winning state.”

The Musical
The school musical, Into the Woods, debuted Thursday and brought in crowds both Friday and Saturday as
well. Senior Maggie Kroeger was part of the orchestra and found the experience to be unique.

“It was different than any other orchestra thing I have done,” Kroeger said. “It was a good experience. At first the music didn’t seem difficult, but as it came together it was a challenging piece.”
