National French Week
Parlez-vous français? As you may have noticed, Westside High School is having its annual French week, which began on Monday, Nov. 4.
This week, according to French Club members, there will be different activities taking place to allow students to gain a new perspective of French culture.
All week, French facts and statistics will be scattered throughout the school.
During lunch mods Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 5 and 5, in the Warrior Walk-Way, students can learn the French phrase of the day. After learning and proving your knowledge of the phrase, you can receive a piece of candy.
On Thursday and Friday, the French club will be selling chocolate truffles during homeroom.
French teacher and club sponsor Sarah Percival said the week is a chance to engage French students and grow their knowledge.
“French Week for the club is an opportunity to use French outside of the classroom and outside of the club and get other people interested in [French],” Percival said.
Percival added that National French Week is beneficial to students who don’t take French.
“[French Week] can help [students outside of French] realize that French is more prevalent than they might realize in everyday life here in America,” Percival said.
