Physical Education Classes Experience Changes for the Upcoming School Year

April 12, 2016

For the first time in 30 years the classes Strength and Conditioning and Cross Training and Aerobics are changing their schedules. Instead of the traditional two 80 minute mods and one 40 minute mods, the classes will be shifting to one 60 minute mod on Monday and four 40 minute mods the rest of the week.

The 60 minute mod on Monday will be used primarily for instruction and going more in depth into the selected topic for that week while the four 40 minute mods will be used to practice and train each students skill set.

“I think they [students] would rather go for that shorter bit each day to get some stress out and move on with their day.” Cross Training Instructor Sally Shepherd said.

These new changes add health benefits to the traditional schedule.

“Being active on a daily basis is much better for you, sometimes students will have class on a Thursday and then not have class again until Tuesday, and that’s a long ways to go without any activity.” Shepherd said

These changed will be implemented in both physical education classes in the upcoming 2016-2017 school year
