PREVIEW: Westside Boys to Travel to Omaha Northwest

Westside boys basketball is coming off of a 6 game win streak that includes wins over Creighton Prep, Grand Island, Omaha South and more. Westside Coach Jim Simons said he has high expectations going into the rest of the regular season coming off of this great team play.

“Just because we have won the last 6 games doesn’t give us a point advantage when the game starts but it does give our team the confidence to play just as good as we have recently,” Simons said.

Omaha Northwest comes into the game with a 4-12 record while Westside is ranked sixth in the state with a record of 12-4.

“Omaha Northwest presents some tough challenges towards us this week, being that they are probably the biggest team in class A this year,”  Simons said.

Simons looks to continue their success going into the rest of the season by trying to getting better week after week. Senior Chase Thompson leads the team with an average of 21.4 points per game while Junior Jaydin Booth averages 18.1.

The boys and girls basketball teams will travel to Northwest on Friday night beginning with the girls at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7:15 p.m.
