The year 2013 was filled with sports, threats, senior pranks and new experiences and accomplishments. With 2013 coming to an end, Wired decided to ask around and find out what the biggest events at Westside were this year. Physical education instructor Sally Shepherd took the reigns in ranking the top 10 events at Westside this year. Below she ranks the events and gives a brief explanation of her choices.
Westside beats Creighton Prep twice in football – when was this ever done [before]?
The courage rock was vandalized – that was hitting below the belt.
Friday chants – perfect example of student involvement.
Baseball wins state – always a big accomplishment.
Football goes to State – hadn’t been since 2006.
ATSC is No. 2 in the nation – okay, they’ve always been good.
Swimmer’s Senior prank – funny, but unfortunate.
Powderpuff/buff – it’s fun every year.
Westside’s student section for the second Prep game – creative, but somewhat uneventful. Shouldn’t we always have that kind of enthusiasm?
To complement Shepherds views, we asked you, our readers, to tell us what you think were the biggest events of the year in a Westside Wired poll.
