eSports Review: CoD Black Ops Cold War (beta)

“The CoD: Cold War” (beta) has recently ended, getting closer to its full release on Nov. 13. With that, there are a few positives and negatives from what I’ve experienced within the gameplay itself.

Even though the game isn’t fully developed, there are some things that stood out to me while playing the beta. One of the main positives was that the movement in the game was less realistic. Every Treyarch game brings in the idea of the game feeling less realistic, and I think that it makes the game better and more exciting. Another positive was the maps, I feel like they were designed well and a pretty good size. Cartel is one of the maps based in Nicaragua, and it was very playable and overall my favorite.

One of the negatives from the beta was the skill-based matchmaking that has been implemented. I felt like it took a few minutes to get in a lobby. Instead of staying in the same lobby, it would kick you and make you queue up with different people. The reason skill-based matchmaking is a huge thing is that you will have a few good games then go up against people that are really good and that ruins the game. Another con was how the spawning was very inconsistent. It was easier to get killed off the spawn and that was one of the things that made the beta difficult to play.

In an overall rating, I give it an 8 out of 10. I really think if you are a fan of the “Call of Duty” franchise, it is a good buy and it will be a good year for what the game is gonna bring. I give this game a Cash, no Pass.
