Westside EY Coordinator Wins AIM Tech Award

Westside’s EY Coordinator Lynn Spady was awarded at the AIM Tech celebration.

Westside Community Schools held the AIM Tech Celebration at Omaha’s Metropolitan Community College Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology on Thursday, Nov. 14. This event is held to showcase AIM tech educator staff throughout Westside Community Schools and their recognize their achievements. This year’s winner was Westside’s Excellence in Youth Curriculum Specialist Lynn Spady.  

“In my current position as an EY Coordinator, my main assignment is teaching math,” Spady said. “Another portion of my assignment is working with students in a variety of content areas, [such as] reading, science, coding and much more.” 

Spady said that over the course of 21 years teaching for Westside Community Schools, she’s taught at all 10 elementary schools as well asWestside Middle School. 

“During the [20]19-20 school year, my home schools are Paddock, Loveland and Westgate,” Spady said. “But I traveled to eight total elementary buildings to provide math instruction.” 

Spady said she felt honored to accept the AIM Tech Educator award on behalf of all the teachers in the Westside district. 

“I work with so many amazing colleagues that do so many awesome things with technology,” Spady said. “When I received the award, I felt blessed to work in a district that values providing technology tools for teachers. I was honored to accept the award on behalf of all the teachers at [Westside Community Schools] that are doing amazing things with technology in their classrooms on a daily basis.” 

Spady said she has always loved being a teacher and working with kids in the district.

“My current role as EY coordinator allows me the freedom to help with students and explore interests and passions,” Spady said. “I love helping kids, it’s truly great.” 

Spady said she enjoys watching her own children and their peers explore the opportunities the Westside district provides; something that excites her for the future of her career. 

“I enjoy watching my own boys and their peers,” Spady said. “I like seeing students experience all the amazing opportunities our district has to offer. I’m really excited to see where my career takes me in the future.”
