Ethan Goldner is a senior leader on this year’s team. This picture was taken during the matchup with Creighton Prep in 2018.

On Monday, March 25, the well-known rivalry between Creighton Prep and Westside was displayed at Phelps Field as the two schools went to battle in soccer. The Junior Jays would leave with a 2-0 win under their belt. Daniel Wood is a senior for the Warriors, and he shared his thoughts on the game.

“Tonight was a tough game, we were beaten by a very good team. But we have to take it on the chin, learn from our mistakes and then move on to the next game,” Wood said.

In the team’s effort of moving forward, there are some specific things Wood hopes for his team to improve on.

With each game, our team chemistry will improve. We’re working step by step towards being the best team we know we can be. Next game, we’re hoping to improve our passing in the final third in order to create more scoring chances,” Wood said.

Ethan Goldner is another senior for the Warriors. He said he is grateful for his experience in the game despite the loss.

It’s always fun to play Prep because the Prep-Westside rivalry has gone on for so long and the feeling of stepping out on the field to represent your school is truly something special,” Goldner said.

Goldner said he also feels that since he is a senior he has an extra role that he must fill on his team.

As a senior on a younger team I just need to help everyone, especially the younger guys to continue to be more confident. We have a good team so as the season goes on we should get better and better,” Goldner said.

The Warriors will be back in action on March, 28th at Millard West.
