Although winter weather brings new activities and pretty views, it also brings many problems and complications. Room 324 flooded over this past weekend and this wasn’t the first time either.

“This flood is pretty much the same as last years’, but this years’ was a lot more,” Math Teacher Angela Mosier said. “Last years’ was two or three ceiling tiles and this year there’s five. There was standing water on the chairs and the wetness on the carpet was about a third of the room.”

Mosier said it was unfortunate for her to see on a Monday morning that her room had been flooded. There are three math teachers that teach classes in that room but luckily the scheduler has homeroom in room 324 so right away she was able to look for classrooms for the teachers that are in that room

“Since it happened last year it’s one of those things where it isn’t necessarily the way you want to start off your day but you kind of have to roll with the punches,” Mosier said.

The teachers that teach in that room on Mondays and Tuesdays were teaching in different classrooms each mod. Both students and teachers had to adapt to different classroom setups and teaching in different parts of the building than they were used to.

“It’s kind of interesting to see how different classrooms are set up. It wasn’t that bad, you just get out of your element when you’re used to using certain equipment and having things set up a certain way,” Mosier said. “You get a little out of sorts but you just make it work.”

The snow and moisture caused the leak in the room. The building engineers are currently working on the roof, but in the meantime, the carpets were cleaned to get rid of some of the smells, the fans have been in drying things off, and the ceiling tiles are out until they know the leak is fixed.

“It was annoying getting to my classroom and seeing a sheet on the door telling me to go to a different classroom. It took time out of passing period,” sophomore Brianna Yoo said. “I was worried I’d be late, but it worked out and I hope it doesn’t happen again.”
