Superintendent Blane McCann has recently informed his colleagues that he was selected as one of three finalists for the superintendent position at Shawnee Mission School District in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. The Board of Education at Shawnee Mission will likely make a decision next week of who the position will go to, following interviews this weekend.
“It is bittersweet that I share this information with you because I love Westside and am proud of the work we are doing together to serve our learners,” McCann said in an email to staff.
McCann said that he was not in search of a new position, but he felt that this opportunity is something he should consider for himself and his family, as his oldest daughter, her husband, and his two grandsons live in the Kansas City area.
McCann will notify his colleagues with any new information following this weekend’s interview.
