Honoring Teresa Donoho

Former Westside mathematics teacher, Mrs. Teresa (Teri) Ann Donoho, July 6, 1960 – September 30, 2017, fought against cancer until late September when she entered into rest. She was born to parents Max and Shirley Rupe.

She lived as an Omaha native and married her husband, Jay Donoho, on April 30, 1998 in Omaha. She worked at both Westside Middle School and Westside High School. Donoho taught for 32 years at multiple schools. After returning from her time teaching in New Hampshire, she chose to work at the Westside High School West Campus because she wanted to be a caring figure that students would feel welcomed by.

She ended her teaching career at her alma mater, Westside High School before retiring.  Donoho was recognized by co-workers as a creative, caring, and compassionate person who put her students first even towards the very end. Donoho stayed at Westside as long as she could fighting cancer. In her time teaching at the high school, Donoho taught Algebra 1, Geometry, and Advanced Algebra. Donoho changed the curriculum, making it more interactive, enjoyable, and personalized for her students. Donoho enjoyed scuba diving and spending time with her beloved three dogs.

Donoho survived by her husband, Jay; her children, Knicholas, Kristopher (wife, Shannon), Kameron; stepchildren, Jay Jr., Pam, Chloe; grandsons, Kayden and Wesley; her parents, Max and Shirley; her mother-in-law, Margie; her two sisters, Cyndi Whitfield (husband, Denny) and  Marsha O’Gara (husband, Tim); her sister-in-law, Lisa; and her nephews and nieces.
