Legos in Government

Ms. Schergin and her AP Government class took an interesting approach on the different types of government last week. To introduce the students to different types of government, Schergin created a Lego project to help students understand how different governments work. There was dictatorship, democratic republic, and direct democracy. The students were split up into three groups and were assigned to build a house out of Legos using that type of government to make their decisions.

“Each student was able to learn advantages and disadvantages of their groups government and then present it to the rest of the class” said AP Government teacher, Ms. Schergin.

The Lego houses were then put on display in the Social Studies IMC for students to vote for their favorite. The house made by the dictator group won the vote.
